Welcome to Oakland Community College
Dr. Timothy R. Meyer began serving as OCC’s eighth chancellor on January 23, 2008, the day after the OCC Board of Trustees approved his contract during
a special board meeting.
With more than 25 years of leadership experience in the knowledge sector, Dr. Meyer is highly regarded in academia and research. Most recently as president of Sault College in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, he successfully led the institution through a series of difficult academic and administrative challenges.
During his tenure at Sault College, Dr. Meyer also led the development of a new strategic plan with a renewed mission to provide exceptional learner experiences to a diverse student population. He fostered the development of many innovative community and corporate partnerships.
Prior to Sault College, Dr. Meyer spent 13 years in the public sector as a research program leader and lead scientist at an Ontario research institute, and in research and information technology with the Ontario government.
Dr. Meyer holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida. He earned a master’s degree from North Dakota State University and an MBA from Lake Superior State University.
Dr. Meyer and his wife, Shelly, have three children: a daughter, age 12, and twin sons, age 9.
