To facilitate student success, the chemistry Discipline

suggests that students have the following skills BEFORE registering for chemistry courses. Please note that suggested skills vary by course.
List of skills students should have prior to registering for chemistry classes:
(CHE 1000) Specific Skill Sets Suggested Prior to Registering
The student is expected to have basic arithmetic skills including:
The ability to set up and solve word problems
Familiarity with exponents.
Familiarity with logs
The student is expected to have the ability and willingness to understand and follow laboratory safety regulations.
(CHE 1320) Specific Skill Sets Suggested Prior to Registering
The student is expected to have the basic chemistry skills obtained from a high school level chemistry course or a college level introductory chemistry course including:
The language of chemistry.
The meaning and use of the mole, atomic theory and structure.
The periodic table.
Chemical bonding, chemical reactions and equations.
Stoichiometry.
Solution chemistry.
The student is expected to have basic laboratory skills including the ability and willingness to understand and follow laboratory safety regulations.
(CHE 1510) Specific Skill Sets Suggested Prior to Registering
The student is expected to have the basic chemistry skills obtained from a high school level chemistry course or a college level introductory chemistry course including:
The language of chemistry.
The meaning and use of the mole, atomic theory and structure.
The periodic table.
Chemical bonding, chemical reactions and equations.
Stoichiometry.
