Position: Communications Specialist
Salary/Wage: $40,019.00 / Yearly 
Job Description: Responsibilities:
~Assist with implementation of public relations and communications plan and programs.
~Write variety of communication materials; news releases, articles, story ideas, material for Website, etc.
~Assist with communication between department director, news media and outside vendors.
~Assist in media relations; pitching, interview scheduling and researching media inquiries on behalf of the Authority.
~Assist with generating media leads and maintain media lists.
~Write speeches and talking points for directors and other Authority staff.
~Recommend various information material regarding Authority programs / services to disseminate to the general public and on the Website.
~Create PowerPoint presentations; content outline, slide creation and corresponding talking points.
~Conduct research, writing and fact finding of white papers, press releases, newsletter articles, marketing materials, etc.
~Conduct phone and onsite interviews for research or story development; research background materials.
~Take photographs for use in newsletters, Website and various marketing materials.
~Assist with special events and coordinate media coverage for marketing and community relations programs.

Qualifications: Requirements:
*Must have Bachelors Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations and / or related field; or
*Must have equivalent combination of education and experience.
*Must have at least two [ 2 ] years experience writing with newspaper, magazine, television or radio station, corporation or public relations firm.
*Must have demonstrated experience in Social Media and Web.
*Must have excellent verbal / written communication skills.
*Must have working knowledge of various media and how they operate; developing and maintain media lists.
*Must have excellent organizational skills.
*Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
