The following steps will guide you through the process of becoming a student at OCC.
Step 1: Complete online application
If your student account has been inactive for more than three years, you will need to reapply. This new application will be used to update your existing account.
NOTE: If you have registered for classes in the past three years, you DO NOT need to reapply.
Step 2: Set up your MyOCC account
When your application is processed you will receive two separate emails - One with your OCC Student ID number along with a link to retrieve your username from Admissions and a second email from Online Services with your Temporary Password.
MyOCC is where you will access your student email account, pre-registration steps, register for classes, payment information, and more.
Step 3: Online Learning Readiness Course (if applicable)
The Online Learning Readiness Course is required before you can register for any online or hybrid classes. Log into MyOCC and select Online Learning Readiness Course under the Pre-Registration Steps card.
Step 4: Complete your FAFSA (if applicable)
Award letter and status of your application may be found under Financial Profile on MyOCC. Check for important deadlines.
Step 5: Mandatory English/Math Placement
Returning students will likely have an existing English placement on file or qualify for one of the exemptions.
Returning students that have passed a math class at OCC with at least a “C” or qualify for one of the other exemptions - DO NOT have to take OCC’s math placement test.
NOTE: DO NOT take OCC’s math placement test unless you plan on registering for a math class within a year of testing as the results expire.
An OCC counselor can answer your questions regarding your student record and placement testing or exemptions.
Step 6: Meet with a Counselor
Make the most of your counseling appointment! Complete Steps 1-4 BEFORE you meet with a counselor.
Use the numbers at the bottom of the Counseling homepage to schedule a Zoom or phone appointment at the closest campus. It is important that you meet with an OCC counselor to review your educational plans and make certain you are on the right path!
Step 7: Register for Classes via MyOCC
Log into MyOCC and select the Student Planning card. Click on the Plan your Degree & Register for Classes option to search and register for classes.
Step 8: Pay Your Bill
You can pay via:
- MyOCC
- In person at Auburn Hills Student Accounts
- Payment Plan
Step 9: Get The One Card
Returning students that DO NOT have a One Card need to request a new or replacement card because it’s not only your official OCC student ID, it also serves as your Library and copy/print card. Your first card is free. Replacement cards cost $10.
Step 10: Buy Your Books
You can order and have your books delivered from the OCC Bookstore. The OCC Bookstore provides competitive comparisons to get your books!
