Internet PoliciesOn this page: General Policies | Web Site Principles Internet PCs in the libraries are intended for information gathering to support educational research. OCC course-related research takes precedence over all other Internet access. Users of Internet PCs are asked to limit their use to thirty minutes if others are waiting. GENERAL POLICIESOCC Libraries provide free access to the Internet. The use of the Internet OCC Libraries is limited to currently registered OCC students and employees effective March 9, 1998. An exception will be made at the Orchard Ridge Campus King Library, which is a Depository for U.S. Government Publications. Community users are permitted to access United States government internet resources at the King Library. All users must comply with Technology Appropriate Use Regulations. See also Use, Access Policies. Use of library printers is restricted to OCC students and staff doing OCC-related research. Email accounts are not provided for students or the community. Dial-in access to the Internet is not available. Patrons may not install programs on any library PC, but downloading of files to a disk is permitted. No chat room access or games are allowed unless required for an OCC course. The Internet is a dynamic resource and the OCC Libraries cannot control access points that often change rapidly and unpredictably. OCC Libraries make no warranty, expressed or implied, for the timeliness, accuracy, or usefulness of information accessed via the Internet. Users are hereby notified that they are responsible for the choice of sites that they visit. In light of the public nature of the placement of Internet terminals in the Libraries, users are asked to be considerate of others in their selection of graphic displays. Users must comply with the United States Copyright Law (U.S. Code 17) and all other applicable laws as well as the OCC Copyright Policy. As with other materials, restriction of a minor's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian. GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF THE OCC LIBRARIES WEB SITE
