MICHIGAN TRANSFER AGREEMENT DISTRIBUTION REQUIREMENTS

The Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) was designed to facilitate the transfer of general education requirements from one institution to another. Students may complete the MTA as part of an associate's degree or as a standalone package.

The intent is that the 30 credits of core college courses will most likely fulfill all or the majority of the student’s lower-level general education requirements at the receiving institution, though students should always discuss transfer options with a counselor as requirements may vary by school.
  1. To receive the MTA endorsement, students must fulfill the requirements noted for each category and successfully complete at least 30 credits. All coursework used to fulfill MTA requirements must be completed with a grade of 2.0 or higher in each course.
  2. If all categories have been completed and at least 30 credits have not been earned, the student must successfully complete one or more classes with a grade of 2.0 or higher in each course from one or more of the categories to attain at least 30 credits.
  3. Students seeking the MTA endorsement using transfer credits must successfully complete at least 1 creditbearing non-developmental course at OCC.
  4. The MTA endorsement can be posted to a student’s record when all components have been met, even though the student may not have completed OCC degree requirements.
  5. An OCC student must be admissible to a receiving Michigan institution in order to benefit from the MTA endorsement.
  6. The MTA applies to 30 credits of core college coursework mostly consistent among Michigan institutions and does not excuse OCC students from meeting specific course requirements for an area of study while enrolled at OCC.

Students who began pursuing the MACRAO Stamp (which the MTA endorsement has replaced) may continue pursuing it until the end of the Summer 2019 Semester or until three years of non-attendance at OCC has occurred (whichever occurs first).  They may also pursue the MTA endorsement as well as the MACRAO Stamp.
