Mandatory New Student Orientation Online
All students new to Oakland Community College -including transfer, dual enrolled and high school guest students- are required to successfully complete the orientation online prior to registering for classes.
Research shows that students who complete orientation are more likely to do the following:
- Take advantage of resources available to them
- Complete their courses with higher grades
- Achieve their academic goals.
OCC wants you to begin your college experience confident and informed.
You must have your OCC email account created prior to participating. Enter Online Orientation through your MyOCC account under Academic Profile.
- Guest students from other colleges
- F-1 students (for first semester only)
- Students who have previously attended OCC
You can complete the orientation online using your
- Computer
- Tablet
- Cell Phone
You must log in to MyOCC - select New Student Orientation under the Pre-Registration Steps card.
There is no fee to participate in orientation online.
Orientation is only offered online and can be completed at your convenience 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The system will save any part that you have completed, so you do not have to complete it in one session. However, you must complete the Orientation before registering for classes. The orientation will take about 30–45 minutes in total and you can review any parts of the orientation as needed during your time at OCC.

Yes, anyone who is admitted as a student to OCC can complete orientation.
There is a “Support” icon located at the bottom of the menu button of the orientation, which offers you the option to call or email for technical support.
Once you have clicked on “Mark Course Complete,” at the end of the Orientation you can move forward to your Next Steps. *Neglecting to "Mark Course Complete" will delay you from moving forward to Next Steps.
Make sure you have clicked the button at the end of the orientation, which takes you to the student dashboard to print your certificate.
There may be other reasons you are unable to register, such as;
- English placement into ENG 1055 or ENG 1060
- Requirement to meet with a counselor
- Course prerequisites
- Documentation requirements
- No program of study selected
