The following steps will guide you through the process of transferring to OCC.
Go to apply. Complete the Profile and Application forms. Confirmation emails are sent when the application is received and again when processed. Please allow two (2) business days for processing.
NOTE: After submitting your application, refresh your Admission Profile. You will see a tab called Supplemental Items & Documents. This area will allow you to upload optional and/or required documents.
You will be prompted to log in to create a new password. Be sure to set up your SECURITY QUESTIONS - this will avoid having to call in to reset your password. Once logged in to MyOCC, sign in to Student Email to ACTIVATE your required OCC STUDENT EMAIL account. Check your Student email for important news & updates.
STEP 3: HAVE YOUR OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS MAILED or EMAILED TO OCC
Official transcripts MUST be sent from your previous accredited university or college to OCC. Your previous institution can email official transcripts to email@example.com or physically mail them to Oakland Community College, Transcript Evaluations, 2480 Opdyke Road Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304-2266. After your transcript has been evaluated, notification will be sent to your OCC email. You may log into your student account to review the results of your transcript evaluation.
STEP 4: NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION - ONLINE
Students new to OCC are required to complete the New Student Orientation before registration. You must have an OCC ID and account to access the link. Go to MyOCC, log in, and select New Student Orientation. After you have completed the survey, remember to click "Mark Course Completed" and print your certificate to finish the orientation.
STEP 5: COMPLETE YOUR FAFSA (if applicable)
Award letter and status of your application may be found under Financial Profile on MyOCC. Check for important deadlines.
STEP 6: PLACEMENT TESTING (if applicable)
Students may be exempt from taking English Accuplacer if they meet the exemption guidelines.
Mandatory practice and test information may be found on the Placement Testing page. Contact Campus Academic Support Center nearest you to schedule your English and/or math placement. Students whose first language is not English are required to take the MTELP. *If applicable – see exemption list
STEP 7: MEET WITH A COUNSELOR
While counseling is not mandatory for transfer students, you are highly encouraged to meet with a counselor to review official or unofficial transcripts, identify classes that meet pre-requisites and assist with course selection to ensure progress toward student goals, including certificate and degree completion.
Complete Steps 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 before you meet with a counselor so the registration hold can be released. Step 5-Applying for Financial Aid is highly recommended due to the strong likelihood of an award, but it is not required prior to your appointment.
NOTE: Students unable to request official transcripts in time for the semester start can be granted a one semester waiver with unofficial transcripts by an OCC counselor.
