The leaves are changing, reminding us winter is soon to follow. Break that impending feeling of being “stuck in a rut,” and take one small step to get ahead.
Now is a good time to focus on you for 2024. Get outside your comfort zone and expand your earning potential and employability by returning to school. Oakland Community College begins its Winter 2024 registration on Oct. 23 through Jan. 7, 2024, and Winter semester classes begin Monday, Jan. 8, 2024.
Students and prospective students can view OCC's Winter schedule of classes beginning Oct. 13. To review winter class schedules and registration information, visit OCC’s registration page. Priority registration for active students (those who have completed OCC credits within the last three years) begins on Oct. 23; open registration for all students begins on Oct. 25.
“While attending college may feel like a giant leap, it’s really a matter of taking one small step at a time,” said Jeremy Guc, OCC director of admissions. “There is a great feeling of achievement when we can reach several small goals that get us to our larger goal. OCC is a great place to get those first steps started.”
Prospective students are encouraged to visit Admissions for information on applying to OCC. Guest students from other colleges and universities are encouraged to visit Guest Students before registering for classes.
Variety of Course Formats Available
OCC continues to offers a variety of course formats in the winter semester including in-person; hybrid courses – a combination of in-person and online; and an increased number of fully online courses to meet student demand and offer maximum flexibility. Beginning Oct. 13, students viewing the schedule of classes will notice updated course codes are being used to represent the various course formats:
- INP-In Person
- ONL-Online
- ONLT- Online Course with in-person Testing
- ONLL- Online Live Course
- HYB-Hybrid

Variety of Ways Available to Help Pay for Tuition
OCC offers one of the lowest in-district tuition rates in Michigan with a variety of one-time grants, government financial aid programs, and many free scholarships.
- FAFSA - All college students are encouraged to apply for college financial aid through the U.S. Department of Education. Students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. Applying for FAFSA opens additional opportunities for grants, scholarships and more.
- OCC Scholarship Universe - Students should apply on Scholarship Universe, a scholarship-matching tool that connects students to internal and external scholarship opportunities. For more information on scholarships, visit https://www.oaklandcc.edu/finaid/scholarships.
- Michigan Reconnect - OCC, in partnership with the Michigan Reconnect program, is offering free in-district tuition to qualifying Michigan residents at least 21 years of age who want to earn an associate degree or certificate. Visit https://www.oaklandcc.edu/mireconnect.
