I. Policy Statement
OCC is committed to maintaining a learning environment where all persons feel safe
to carry out their educational goals. To foster the development of a community that
values the safety of each individual, OCC has created a Threat Assessment and Safety
Committee (“TASC”) to evaluate and promote safety at the college.
The Threat Assessment & Safety Committee Procedures for this threat assessment policy
establish a process for individualized risk assessment, safety intervention, and possible
leave of absence withdrawal (voluntary, involuntary) for students who pose a credible,
substantial risk of self-harm or harm to others within the Oakland Community College
(OCC) community, or who substantially impede lawful activities, the educational process,
or proper activities or functions of other members of OCC.
