Business Administration
You’re wearing the suit. You’re reading the balance sheet. You’re in the conference room or on the video call.
Are you in business? Maybe. Business, like science, is a way to approach problems. Do you see the pattern in the numbers? Do you hear an opportunity in the meeting? Can you propose a solution, close the deal?
That’s doing business.
Business Basics that Grow With Your Career
Start your career in business at OCC. You gain all the fundamental skills, including introductions to accounting, stats, economics, computers, and business law. Choose the electives that match your long-term goals—more math if you want to earn a bachelor’s of science, for example.
Any of your three ABA options prepares you to transfer to a four-year university. If you know which school you’re heading to, work with your OCC advisor to make sure your courses line up with their requirements.
How the Money Moves
Every businessperson needs to understand accounting. Will it be your strong suit? Find out in OCC’s introductory, two-credit class on accounting procedures. It’s a low-risk way to begin to chart your way into the business world.
Likewise, you’ll deepen your understanding of economics, the way supply, surplus, and value move and change—locally, nationally, and globally. Our econ instructors make this potentially abstract field come to life. See economics playing out in every business setting.
Always Something New in Business
Where you go from this beginning is wide open. Studying business leads to many possible careers. You can start in one direction and grow with the opportunities you find—or make. Business is broad as well as deep. You can continue to learn at every career move.
