Brightspace by D2L

Brightspace by D2L, commonly known as D2L, is a learning management system (LMS) used to host OCC's online and hybrid courses.

Many OCC instructors also use D2L to post materials and assignments for the traditional classroom, thereby allowing easy access anywhere you have an internet connection and the supported technology.

About 75% of all courses offered each semester have an associated D2L course site. Check with your instructor if you are unsure if D2L is being used. 

What can be found in a D2L course?

Your instructor may post the following in your D2L course site:

  • Syllabi
  • Course calendars
  • Lessons/Modules
  • Assignments
  • Quizzes/Assessments
  • Discussion forums
  • And much more

D2L Access

Not every instructor uses D2L, contact your instructor regarding the technology being used in your course if you are unsure.

D2L Enrollments

Enrollments are added to the D2L course sites on the next business day after you register for the course on the MyOCC site. Friday and Saturday registrations are added to D2L on the following Monday.

Drops/Adds in D2L

Drops/Adds are processed on the next business day after you submit the change to your schedule on MyOCC.

D2L Maintenance Schedule

D2L is available 24 by 7.

In very rare cases, issues arise that are outside of normal operations which requires D2L to perform maintenance that will impact site availability. In these rare cases and when possible, D2L will give advanced notice of any maintenance downtime. The notification will be posted on the D2L My Home page available to you after you successfully log into the D2L system.
