Darryl L. Rivers, the owner/chief instructor of The Betterment Group was born and raised in the inner city of Detroit, Michigan. After serving in the Persian Gulf in the early 90’s, Darryl returned to Detroit to become a Detroit Police Officer. After working various task forces and being a Spec. Ops officer in Detroit’s 9th Precinct, Darryl re-located to Arizona where he functioned as a Detective, Lead Special Agent with the Office of The Attorney General, Sergeant with Goodyear P.D. and primary Hostage Negotiator with the Crisis Negotiations Team. Darryl is a certified human behavior analyst, emotional intelligence analyst, motivating factors and what drives human behaviors analyst, body language expert, Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner, Accelerated Learning for Adults Certification, Certified Professional Performance Coach and Trainer.

Course Description:

Law Enforcement professionals are faced with individuals in crisis daily. It is common ideology that their worst day is just another one of our work days. When faced with citizens that are experiencing emotional hi-jacking it is paramount we as professionals are equipped with high level communication skills, tools, and tactics suited for the most desirable outcome available. In dealing with suicidal subjects, barricaded perpetrators, or hostage situations while waiting for SRT and Crisis Negotiation knowing how to properly navigate the task at hand is priceless. Hostage Negotiations for The Non-Negotiators course will expose you to the negotiations process and equip you with tactics to either resolve the situation prior to Crisis Teams arrival or run the race and pass the baton to your Crisis Team in full stride without any mishaps.
