Oakland Community College, Michigan National Apprenticeship Week Proclamation
- Whereas, Oakland Community College (OCC) offers a high-quality education, and is committed to enhancing the quality of life, safety and economy in the communities we serve. OCC provides high skill, in-demand robust professional and career technical programs and certificates including short-term training opportunities for its stakeholders;
- Whereas, OCC is a preferred educational provider for Registered Apprenticeships, an earn-while-you-learn training model that ensures education and on-the-job learning for apprentices to have a secure and high paying career, and
- Whereas, OCC is expanding Registered Apprenticeship through pre-apprenticeship programming by integrating curriculum, soft skills and career readiness, and
- Whereas, Registered Apprentices are celebrated at OCC for their dedication time management and completion of both coursework and training, and
- Whereas, Registered Apprentices earn college credit, which can lead to a college certificate or degree, in addition to a US DOL OA certificate or DOL journey-level credential that promotes credit for prior learning, and
- Whereas, OCC recognizes that Registered Apprenticeships are industry-driven, high-quality career training programs in which employers develop and prepare Michigan’s future workforce.
Now, therefore, we Oakland Community College do hear by proclaim the week of November 17-23, 2024 as National Registered Apprenticeship Week in Michigan.
