Continuing Professional Education (CPE) 2025
In accordance with Public Act 1 of 2023 requiring in-service training for all licensed police officers, the Oakland Police Academy is offering training in 2025 centering on Mental Health Crisis. Students attending will learn how to properly and professionally deal with individuals they come into contact with who are experiencing a mental health crisis. The training is taught by instructors highly qualified in their respective field.
Day 1: January 29, 2025:
- Mental Health Crisis & Scenarios – 8 hours (8:00 am – 5:00 pm)
Day 2: January 30, 2025:
- Alzheimer’s Awareness – 4 hours (8:00 am – Noon)
- Ethics in Policing – 4 hours (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm)
Day 3: January 31, 2025:
- Legal Update – Related to Mental Health Crisis - 4 hours (8:00 am – Noon)
- Michigan Mental Health Code
- Mental Health Petitions
- Legal Considerations
- Cultural Diversity – 4 hours (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm)
