Lieutenant Kevin Dillon, (Whethersfield, CT Police Department, Retired) - Founder and developer of the L.O.C.K.U.P. ® Police Training System. A much sought after instructor, Kevin has lectured on law enforcement use of force issues, as well as executive perspectives before the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA®), FBI NA Conferences, Western States Sheriffs and International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA). A 26-year police veteran, SWAT Commander and trainer, he is certified by the Force Science Institute and is an FBI National Academy Graduate.

Course Description:

An instructor level program designed to qualify students in the L.E.A.D.S. ™ Plus T - Law Enforcement
Active De-escalation Strategies and Tactical Options Program. The course educates and trains instructors in positive communications skills, effective de-escalation techniques, anger management and combat confrontation avoidance techniques. Attendees will learn how to recognize aggressive behaviors and keep them from escalating. Active De-escalation Strategies that can avoid or resolve negative interactions by employing effective de-escalation methods will also be presented. This course discusses tactical responses to use when diffusion tactics are inappropriate or ineffective and teaches distraction techniques that promote the success of tactical applications.

Developed in 2007, The L.E.A.D.S. ™ Plus T - Law Enforcement Active De-escalation Strategies Training is a nationally recognized conflict resolution, de-escalation certification course that has been taught throughout the United States. L.E.A.D.S. and L.O.C.K.U.P. is the 2022 recipient of the Science and Innovation Award presented by the FBI National Academy Associates.
