Pistol Instructor School
Course Description:
This 40-hour training program is designed to provide students with the comprehensive knowledge and skills needed to instruct, administer and supervise in-service pistol training.
The class format includes classroom lecture in conjunction with student demonstrations in range exercises. Students will learn to evaluate and correct errors in shooting and decision making. They will make classroom presentations, assume command of the firing line during range operations, while being exposed to instruction techniques and the survival mind-set that include body and brain reactions in high stress situations.

- Duty belt
- Ball cap
- On duty and off duty firearm
- Flashlight
- Pistol manufacturer’s manual
- Departmental policy
- Qualification
- Cleaning equipment
The Oakland Police Academy will provide 9mm; .40; .45 and .357 ammunition.
