Instructor: Matt Johnson – United States Navy, Prior veteran of SEAL Team 7 and SEAL Team 10 with multiple tier 1 & tier 2 combat deployments across the Middle East and East Africa in the global war on terror. In the Security & Emergency management industry, Matt consults various high-profile public and private groups.

Course Description:  This training provides the baseline tactics required to operate as a member of a tactical law enforcement team. Attendees will receive instruction on room clearing, vehicle assaults, marksmanship, less than lethal munitions, and Noise Flash Diversion Devices (NFDD) certifications. This course is instructed by hand selected SWAT operators as well as Navy SEAL veterans with engagement history and high-profile tactical experience.

Required Equipment: Primary/Secondary Weapon System; Weapon Sling (rifle) & Retention; Duty Vest, Belt; Operational loadout; Long sleeves and PT gear, Notepad and pen, (Optional Equipment - “Chem lights” (Blue / Red), Communications, Gloves, Planning Aids, Shield).

The Oakland Police Academy will provide all Simunition® protective equipment (full face, throat and groin); The FX® Marking Cartridges; and bolts for the M4 / M16 rifles for “force on force” scenarios.

  • Day 1 – Firearm Skill Baseline,  Single Room CQC 1
  • Day 2 – Single Room CQC 2
  • Day 3 – Multi-Room Flow CQC 3 
  • Day 4 - Vehicle Assaults, Linear Assaults  Familiarization
  • Day 5 – Dynamic (Time Sensitive) CQC 4 NFDD, Less Lethal
  • Day 6 – Warrant Service, Call out / Barricaded Subjects, SWAT Less Lethal
  • Day 7 – Operational Planning, Full Mission Profiles (FMP’s)
  • Day 8 – Academic and Performance Assessment
