OCC courses help business owners master social media

Social media IconsOAKLAND COUNTY, Michigan — Who are your customers? What do they really think of your business? What are they telling others about it?

These questions, vexing entrepreneurs since trade began, are easier to answer in the era of social media. These platforms have the potential to build your business by letting you deliver messages in real time to your customers, engage with them and help find new customers.

In addition to managing finances and operations, you also need knowledge to maximize this digital tool to ensure success. Starting this month, Oakland Community College is offering a series of classes to help you quickly master social media for business. Three courses are being offered:

Facebook for the Small-Business Owner: 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, March 12 and 19. Fee: $55.

With over 1.7 billion users, Facebook has become the world’s largest social network. Learn how to create and maintain a professional-looking Facebook page that will enable you to engage customers and grow your business using social media marketing.

Stress-Free Social Media Introduction: 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, March 26, April 2 and April 9. Fee: $69.

Social media is everywhere and can get really overwhelming! What’s Snapchat? Instagram? How can I best use social media and digital marketing for my business? In this class, you’ll learn the different of social media applications and how they can best be used for your business and personal life. You’ll also learn about branding and how to present consistent messages across all media.

Stress-Free Social Media Management: 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, April 16 and 23. Fee: $55.

In this class, you’ll take a more advanced look at developing content and finding posts for social platforms. You’ll also learn the different applications to manage social media. This class does not require taking Stress-Free Social Media Introduction beforehand, but it is recommended that you do so.
