Oakland Community College’s Financial Team Best in Class, Again
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded OCC with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial
Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fifth consecutive
year.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental
accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment
by a governmental entity and its management. OCC is one of only two community colleges
in Michigan to earn this honor. The GFOA also awarded OCC an Award for Outstanding
Achievement for its Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR). The PAFR is used to provide
taxpayers with a readily accessible and easily understandable reporting of the College’s
finances.
“The GFOA awards validate our commitment to meticulous financial reporting, and our
drive to provide transparent, accessible information about the resources entrusted
to us by the community,” said Peter Provenzano, OCC Chancellor. “OCC provides exceptional
value for students seeking a quality post-secondary education. These reports underscore
that value and our accountability to the community we serve.”
Bobbie Remias, OCC Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services, said these reports
uniquely tell OCC’s financial story in words and images, representing how far the
College has come and where it plans to go in the coming years. “We take great pride
in providing the community with a set of transparent, accessible financial documents
which keep our financial stakeholders informed and closer to our vision,” she said.
