OCC Hosts Apprenticeship and Training Conference Nov. 8

Conference brings together educators and industry experts from across Michigan to discuss educational training, workforce development and apprenticeship partnerships.

Educators from around the state will be on the Oakland Community College Auburn Hills campus Nov. 8 to attend the Michigan Educators Apprenticeship and Training Association (MEATA) Fall Conference

MEATA Apprenticeship

The MEATA one-day conference features national presenters from the U.S. Dept. of Labor Office of Apprenticeship as well as the National Hub for DEIA in Registered Apprenticeship. Sessions with state and local speakers cover a variety of apprenticeship topics and meaningful connections.

OCC’s Chancellor Peter Provenzano will provide the opening remarks and Oakland County MichiganWorks! is sponsoring the conference.

“At OCC, we continue to expand our registered apprenticeship  programs in Oakland County providing students the opportunity to get paid and  on-the-job learning with local employers while receiving an education to become experts in their field,” said Cameron Albring, interim director of Career Services and current MEATA President.

Albring added the day-long education and information event brings together educators and industry experts to discuss educational training, workforce development and apprenticeship partnerships across Michigan.

The MEATA Fall Conference is approved by the Michigan Department of Education to award 4 State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs).

Visit the MEATA website for details and to register.
