Not too many things in life are free, but just in time for the holidays, Oakland Community College is pleased to offer two events free to the community. These concerts showcase the College’s outstanding student musical performances.
Join OCC in November and December for the following events:
Music Student Showcase on Wednesday, Nov 15, at 7:30 p.m. Here more than a dozen students perform live at OCC’s Lila Jones Theatre in downtown Royal Oak at 739 Washington. Performances include solo artists, duos and trios featuring a wide variety of music.
Jazz Band Concert on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. Under the direction of Tom Dennis, the OCC Jazz Band Concert will feature music arranged for “Big Band” with a vocalist covering music from the 1930s to present day. This performance will be held at OCC’s Lila Jones Theatre, 739 S. Washington, in downtown Royal Oak.
OCC faculty member Tom Dennis encourages the community to attend this free event.
“It gives students a chance to get out of the classroom and share their talents and passion with an audience,” he explains. “Music faculty take great pride in anything we can do to help our students succeed and express themselves through music performance.”
Parking is free and advanced tickets are not required.
Prospective music students interested in learning more are encouraged to visit the Music Program at OCC.
