Neely’s latest book addresses the systematic dehumanization, underreporting and neglect of Black women and girls as victims of violence. Through intensive historical research, she calls attention to serial cases of Black female murder victims and a lack of police action. Rather than simply recounting the tragedies, Neely thoughtfully explores each case with detailed care, highlighting the lives of these women and girls and their communities that never stopped fighting for justice.
This special reading is open to OCC students, employees and community members and includes a drawing for signed books by the author.
