OCC’s core values even through the most difficult of times. The Medical Emergency
Procedures serve as the College’s framework for managing, implementing, and coordinating
timely and efficient emergency responses to help reduce negative impacts to life,
property, environment and persons.
Implementation
Environmental Health & Safety/Risk Management, in collaboration with OCC’s Public
Safety Department are the designated departments empowered to create, train, and administer
the Medical Emergency Procedures, based upon guidance from national, state, and local
directives and legislation. Collegewide readiness, personal preparedness and ongoing
planning and training exercises will be periodically implemented and instituted as
needed.
The Medical Emergency Procedures provide a flexible and base framework for general responses to medical emergencies. However, each emergency is unique and can entail unforeseen circumstances. There is nothing in the Medical Emergency Procedures that prevents the college from taking actions it deems necessary and proper for responding to a particular emergency, even if the responses differ or diverge from what is contained within the Medical Emergency Procedures.
