Associate Degree
Learn everything you need to know about HVAC/R with the 64-credit Associate in Applied
Science (AAS) degree, which can be completed by full-time students in five semesters
(two-and-a-half years). Learn more:
Certificates
If the degree path isn’t for you, consider earning a certificate. We offer three,
and they can be completed by part-time students in four semesters (two years). Specialize
in heating, air conditioning, or refrigeration:
You can also earn a certificate and then proceed toward the degree. For more information,

Certifications
Your education prepares you to earn up to 20 national certifications, including industry-leading
credentials from Trane, HVAC Excellence (ESCO Institute), and North American Technician Excellence (NATE). These certifications increase your personal marketability and show off your skills.

Program Director Robert Featherstone was named a
Certified Master HVAC/R Educator (CMHE) by HVAC Excellence in 2022. In addition to his teaching work, Featherstone is also
a noted author. His guidebook to HVAC/R certification and competency examinations
is widely respected throughout the industry.

- Apply to OCC. If you’re not already an OCC student, create a profile and complete our online application.
- On the application, select one of the “HVAC/R Systems Tech” options.
- Existing OCC students can update their academic program using the Student Update Information Request form.
