A limited number of seats are available for the trainings. We take students on a first-come first-serve basis. So, don’t delay in applying!

We’re looking forward to working with you soon. If you have any questions along the way, we are here to support you.

Application Steps

The application process has five simple steps!

#1 Determine which training program you’d like to pursue.
#2 Register and attend an information session for the training program you’re interested in.
#3 Determine if you will be applying for funding with Michigan Works! or paying out of pocket.
#4 Complete the necessary paperwork by the application deadline.
#5 Start the training program!

Applying for Michigan Works! Funding

The majority of students apply for funding. Most of the training programs have funding available. However, the Mammography Technologist training program is not eligible for funding. Read more below about required testing, eligibility requirements and documents needed to apply. To initiate the process, you’ll connect with one of the six Oakland County Michigan Works! offices.

CASAS Tests

As part of the application process, Michigan Works! conducts both a reading and a math test. We encourage you to brush up on your skills and complete a few sample tests which are available online. Tests are scheduled with the Michigan Works! office you’re working with.

Applying with OCC – Paying out of Pocket

If you don’t meet the eligibility requirements with Michigan Works!, you have the option to pay out of pocket.

A Self Payment & Payment Authorization form will need to be completed prior to starting the training program. Tuition needs to be paid in full prior to the training starting and refunds are not granted. Contact an OCC representative for more details.

The payment and form should be completed by the application deadline noted on the individual training web page. An exception to this deadline may be considered. However, it will depend if there are still seats available, if vaccines can be completed in time (allied health programs only) and if materials can be ordered in time.

After the Application is Completed

Once you have completed the application process with either Michigan Works! or OCC, you will receive a congratulatory email from OCC. Generally, the email is sent the week leading up to the training start date. The communication will include details about the orientation, location of the training, where to report the first day of the class, and more.
