DEIJ Student Advisory Committee
The DEIJ Student Advisory Committee (DEIJ- SAC) is a forum for promoting, educating and understanding diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and justice through outreach and activism at Oakland Community College (OCC). The Committee is committed to:
- Supporting the cultivation of a safe and inclusive culture and environment for all students, especially those who identify as a member of a historically marginalized group—including Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC), Latinx, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI), persons with disabilities, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, pansexual/polyamorous (LGBTQIAP+) communities.
- Gathering student feedback related to DEIJ
- Developing ideas that will make OCC a more inclusive place for all students to learn and grow.
- Fostering an environment of inclusion, collaboration, and the sharing of best practices, resources, and knowledge to work effectively towards these goals.
With a unified voice, the DEIJ -SAC will advocate for organizations and student initiatives related to DEIJ.
