Chancellor’s Scholarships Honor Academic Excellence

$200,000 Available for Oakland County Students

If you’re a high school senior in Oakland County and have a strong academic record, you may qualify for a $4,000 Chancellor’s Scholarship at OCC.

The scholarship provides $2,000 for each of the fall and winter semesters. It’s only good for the year after you graduate from high school, and it can’t be renewed.

To qualify, you must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

    The deadline to apply is March 31, 2024.

    * Students are strongly, encouraged to apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is required for other scholarships and federal and state grants .

    How to Apply for the Chancellor’s Scholarship

    1. Apply for admission to OCC. Be sure to include your Social Security number on your application.

    2. Wait until you receive an email from OCC saying you’ve been admitted. This takes two business days or less.

    3. Fill out the application for the Chancellor’s Scholarship online at OCC’s Scholarship Universe. With your application, upload an official high school transcript that shows your grades for the fall 2023 first quarter/semester and your cumulative GPA.

    4. Log in to MyOCC and take the English Placement test (it’s listed under Pre-Registration Steps). It takes about a half hour to complete. You don’t have to take the English Placement test if you’ve taken the SAT, submit your scores to the OCC Counseling Department, and your scores place you in the appropriate English course.

    5. Students must place into English 1510 or higher. 

    Scholarship Requirements 

    To maintain your eligibility for the scholarship, you must:

    • See an OCC counselor to declare a major and prepare an Academic Plan of Study for the Fall 2024 semester by June 30, 2024. Submit the plan to your campus Financial Aid office. You can only register for classes listed in your Academic Plan of Study.
    • Take at least 12 credit hours at OCC in the fall semester.
    • See an OCC counselor by Nov. 15, 2024, to prepare an Academic Plan of Study for the Winter 2024 semester. As before, submit the plan to your campus Financial Aid office, and remember that you can only register for classes listed in it.
    • Achieve a minimum GPA of 2.0 and complete at least 67 percent of your credits in the fall semester to be eligible for the winter award.
    • Take at least 12 credit hours at OCC in the winter semester. 

    If you fail to meet any of these requirements, you’ll lose the scholarship.
